Gabriel Reyna was born in Mexico City. He first became interested in the realms of sound and music from an early age. He explored the world of synthesizers and electronic music, where he eventually began composing his own music, fusing synthesized electronic beats with traditional instruments.
In 2006, Gabriel worked as the supervising sound editor for the feature film “Dramamex,” directed by Gerardo Naranjo. As a result of his contribution to this project, he was invited to participate in the “Semaine de la Critique” at the Cannes Film Festival 2006.
Over the past two decades, Gabriel has been involved in a wide range of cinematographic projects as the supervising sound editor, working closely with directors in the sound design and audio implementation for various films. In 2015, he was awarded the prestigious “Ariel” prize for his work as sound editor on the movie “Güeros,” directed by Alonso Ruizpalacios. More recently, he has just completed the sound editing for a documentary about the life and times of John Lydon (PIL & Sex Pistols), entitled “The Public Image Is Rotten,” directed by Tabbert Fiiller.
Gabriel, thus far, has participated in several projects in which he feels truly passionate about and can identify with. As a result, his contributions to the aforementioned projects have been innovative, creative, personal and moreover won him a reputation as one of the best sound designers in contemporary Mexico.
At the beginning of 2019, He expanded his portfolio and started working in Berlin and Amsterdam's film and advertising industries, with diverse clients, ranging from independent film producers and directors to media and advertising agencies.
